We have seen a few schools around the country start adopting iPad use as a test tool for learning, curriculum delivery and even teacher development and planning. I never expected I would see this, though. In Japan, surgeons use iPads to help them locate difficult to reach problems in the body during surgeries. If doctors are confident in their use, when will we start to see American mass adoption of this tool for education?
According to some colleagues in the industry, there are some relevant questions about its cost and its portability, as well as what do you do with a student who grows attached to the iPad but either can’t afford it after the school year is over, or is not allowed to purchase and take it home?
We’d like to hear your ideas about how to get inexpensive tablet technology into the schools in the United States.
